On Saturday the 8th of September, as part of Bushcare’s major Day Out celebrations around the country, Tullimbah Landcare Group, in partnership with Shellharbour City Council, hosted a community seeding day at the ElizabethBrownlee Reserve, Digby Close, Albion Park.
Activities carried out on the day were to celebrate Bushcare Major Day out , but was also be a tribute to the late local Illawarra botanist, Anders Bofeldt who past away in 2011.
16 Volunteers from around the region participated in the direct seeding day with the Tullimbah Landcare Group and spread native understory plant seeds throughout the understory of this beautiful vegetation from Anders’ collections and planted some native species. We also installed a plaque on the day to acknowledge his incredible contribution tobiodiversity in the Illawarra.
To finish off the day the Land Care Group provided a BBQ and refreshments.
The Tullimbah Land Care Group welcome new volunteers to help restore the Illawarra subtropical Rainforest at the Elizabeth Brownlee Reserve Digby Cl Albion Park and meet every second Wednesday of the month and 4th Saturday at 9am.
